Biannual Blogathon 2013 Bash Wrapup #blogathon2

As part of the Biannual Blogathon 2013 Bash I’ve been working on my blog most of the weekend.. Here is a break down of everything that has gone on so far:

Mini-Challenges Completed:

How to create a blogging notebook

I only completed one of the min-challenges due to the fact that I knew or was already working on most of them this time around. I always hunt down anything to do with blogging notebooks/planners because I want to make sure that mine is as up to date as possible!

I did end up getting most of my goals done, though once I started rethinking the blog layout, I got into a whole other mess! As the redesign of the blog approaches, I have decided that we need a mascot, so head over to the post and help us come up with some ideas! This mascot will be on all of our blog related social media and once I get the mascot purchased, he/she will be in most photos posted on the blog!
I did end up getting the blog calendar more organized, and worked a ton on old posts, checking links and making them more SEO Friendly. I also got a ton of backend stuff finished up, and I am still brainstorming a few ways to better organize the reviews, as right now they are all on one page with just text links.

So I think this round of the blogathon was a success for me, I ended up spending a total of 48 hours working on the blog and blog related things, and can’t wait to participate again in June!!

Winter Biannual Blogathon Bash Kick Off #blogathon2 2013!

Biannual Blogathon Bash

The Biannual Blogathon Bash starts today and I’m joining in on the fun! It’s a 72 hour event where bloggers work as much as they can on their blogs. There are mini challenges, Twitter parties and prizes for participants! There’s still time to join in. Check out all the details on the Blogathon Bash site. We got so much done last time, and I hope to be as productive this time as I was last!

Here are a few things I hope to get accomplished:

  1. Organize the reviews on the blog in a better and easier way
  2. Organize my calendar
  3. Update links/photos in older posts
  4. Schedule some non-giveaway posts that I’ve had in the works for a bit
  5. Do some back-end work
  6. Rethink the blog layout, maybe redo the design myself

I plan to participate in as many mini-challenges as possible, but since we got a snow day, at least today may be a short day for me!

Remember that is isn’t too late to sign up!!!

365 Random Acts of Kindness

365 Random Acts of Kindness

365 Random Acts of Kindness
This weekend, the kids and I sat down and talked about what happened Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary. While they wanted to do something for the families of the children, I wanted this lesson in kindness to last for more than just the time it would take to write a letter or send a donation. We discussed Random Acts of Kindness and the kids decided that they wanted to do 365 Random Acts of Kindness next year, one for each day. While there are the #20Acts and #26Acts that Ann Curry of NBC News initiated. While this is a great way to remember the lives that were lost on December 14th, I want my children to remember that we should be kind throughout the year, not just when tragedy happens. So with that in mind, here is our partial list of 365 Random Acts of Kindness. Please feel free to add your ideas in a comment, just remember the kids are young, under 12 and would like to do most things with very little or no help from us adults (though I am “allowed” to drive them around)!

365 Random Acts of Kindness

1: Donate to your local food bank (we do this once a month, so adding an extra donation)
2: Hold the door open for someone (the kids do this daily)
3: Send a Thank You card to your local Police Department
4: Send a Thank You card to your local Fire Department
5: Put someone’s cart away at the store [Read more...]

Biannual Blogathon Bash
Hey guys! Just a quick post because I wanted to give you all a heads up that the Biannual Blogathon Bash’s sign-ups for Jan 25-28th opened recently! It’s a 72 hour event filled with blogging tips, twitter parties, and more. You can work on your blog as little or as much as you want.
I especially like it because it’s not focused on any one type of blog! That means you get tips from different bloggers and you don’t have to worry if you aren’t a specific niche blogger!!
As a bonus there is a giveaway with 20 prizes – for all bloggers!
